Hello,

I am in the market for a new tripod for my af100.

I keep reading how amazing the vinten vision blue is?

Any feedback would be appreciated? Also how heavy is your setup with the tripod head?

Thanks,

Simon

Just got my Vinten blue last thursday. Only used it once and worked with it some in the studio. I have a very light af100 rig but the vinten works great. You really have to crank the drag down to max but the balance is incredible. When you stop and take your hands off it stays exactly where it is. This is my second vinten, the fist is 20 years old and still worked great with my HPX500 before I sold it.

Cool. I got the Libec LS-38. Vinten was just too expensive. I like it but no counter-balance feature but I knew that already.

While the head is impressive, there are a few things about the sticks that kill it for me:

1) Look at the leg locks: there are 6 of them, they are spread out over six points on the legs, and they are twist-lock. It's no fun to have to adjust six points with a twisting action.
2) Floor spreader. If you shoot in the field, this is a hassle.
3) No handle!

I would definitely upgrade the legs.

Agree with the leg locks although it comes in nice when shooting dutch angles.

You can get either a floor or mid level spreader and they're interchangeable. I already had a floor spreader for my Vision 10 so I went with the mid spreader. It really is much better for outdoor work.
