Anyone using AVID MC5 with the HMC150?

Anyone worked with HMC150 footage in the new Avid Media Composer 5?

If so, how was the experience?

MC5 claims to now support "AVCHD import," but I'm not exactly sure what that means in the real world.

Yep, works great.
Just import a mts file and it is transcoded to DNxHD145, in just about real time for a good cpu.
Note, if you have a long shot with multiple spanned files, you need to combine them with the copy /b method to get one file per shot. Spanned files do not have a complete file structure and will fail to import in Avid.
Quality is great, and the workflow is much fater… Thanks Avid.

Any chance you could explain the copy /b method? I'm a new user to MC5 and have had the same trouble with my hmc150.
Thanks Man.

I am using MC5.0.3.8 With this version, MC will (most of the time) import the spanned files automatically.

If you have problems, you can then use the MTS Merger to merge the clips before importing them in MC. Just merge the spanned files in one .mts clip.

In MC, the import options will change depending on theFormat Project Type. You can even transcode the .mts files into DV25 when working in 480 30i NTSC.

In HD, the best choice is DNxHD145.
