Hey guys
I got a JR and am a bit disappointed thus far... I was wondering if anyone else has used it with a 7d yet? I am having trouble getting enough weight to keep it from being nose heavy... any help would be greatly appreciated...
thanks a ton

i bought it used and i am assuming i did not get all the weights with it. i have added all that i got with it and it is still nose heavy. it is not level when idle either...
I think the steadicam jr. is only made for cameras from 2-4 lbs. so you might be reaching the max weight depending on what you have on it (lenses etc.). I've heard the merlin can actually hold a little more (up to 5). you moved the camera all the way back on the platform right?
i have been using a monopod some and it sometimes get the job done but the shoot on the 30th has to follow a guy down a center aisle of a church and it is fairly long...
i'll try on mine out tomorrow. does your's have the monitor? i took mine off because it threw off the balance with my hv20 & wide angle. haven't tried it with the 7d yet.
I took the monitor off mine. I'm not very good at balancing, but it seems like it's just too much weight for it to handle. I can get the balance point close, but it tips like crazy if I move it. It could just be that I don't have the right counterbalace, or maybe I just don't know what I'm doing. Oh, and I'm trying my 7d with my tokina 11-16, in case you were wondering.
okay just in case anyone else gets to this thread and needs some help. i spent about 2 hours today figuring out a way to use this bad boy with my 7d and finally i figured out the only way to add enough weight without buying the overpriced weights straight from BH is fishing lure weights. i just went to walmart and bought about 6 packages of "egg shell sinker weights" that had about 10 in each bag. i did not have to use all of those by any means. i put about 15 or so in the compartment for the battery (meaning you would lose the LCD screen but that thing was pretty lackluster to begin with). hope this helps someone.
later on
