Anyone use this diffuser?

So I messaged Aputure on FB about the easy frost and apparently the "EZ Box" will be available within 2 weeks. Hope it's decent quality and price point...
I have a prerelease version but haven't had time to try it out. Hopefully in a couple days. I still think getting the light farther away from the scrim will be better.

Erik, if you could post a few pics of the unit itself that would be cool. Thanks.

Busted out the EZ Box today. Now I wish I had the wide "W" not spot (S) Aputure Amaran NR672 model.
EZ Box is pretty secure and the front diffusion fits pretty well. It's not super soft. I might have liked a little more. Maybe a another 1/2 stop. My spot version still is pretty tight with diffusion that close at 4-inches from the front of the EZ Box. Wider "W" model should be really nice.

I think the "S" model works better in an umbrella or large Road Rag.

It all mounts with plastic rods. They seem sturdy enough and the mounts are aluminum. The mount fits nice and tight with no rotation or twist issues.

The 35 Degree grid fits a little loose. (I havent shoot pictures of the 35 degree grid yet.) If you move the lights a lot they will fall off. They mount to the same pegs that the diffusion attaches to.

Still a great option for the NR672. I might pick up a NR672W wide model.

Thanks for that short review, Erik. I have two 672S and one W because the intensity of the W is lower than the S. I tried the S with the easy frost alone and it was a bit "spotty" but hopefully I can get it to work...

What's the point of a softbox barely larger than the light itself? Might as well just put heavier diffusion right on the face of the light which requires less rigging. Personally I use cheap 90x60cm (2x3ft) umbrella softboxes on my leds which is much much softer than a 1x1ft softbox...

Ordinarily any softbox would be an option, but with the Aputure lights the vents get covered and they overheat...

Thanks for the info on the EZ Box. I have been using an Airbox 1X1 with the 672 and I am very pleased with the results. I attach a Chimera grid to the Airbox at times. Works great. The Airbox 1x1 is larger than the Aputure 672 but it doesn't matter. Might even help. I also use an umbrella sometimes as well.

But an umbrella softbox wouldn't cover any vents since the only contact it has with the light is through the umbrella hole on the stand mount. It would only overheat if the inside of the softbox gets too hot but usually overheating is about being able to get very localized heat away from the led emitters as quickly as possible so a slightly warmer environment usually won't be as bad for cooling as blocking a vent right on the fixture.

Thanks. Do you have a particular one that you use?

Alternately the Umbrella Softbox would have to be deep enough so that the diffuser were farther away and larger than the EZBox is. This assumes pointing at the diffuser directly as the EXBox is designed.

It looks like the fixture would be enclosed in the box, so I would just be worried about covering the vents because I've heard of overheating issues.
