I'm trying to hook up my D90 with a regular 19inch computer LCD monitor via HDMI out to -VGA-DVI. When I do so, the D90 keeps blinking in and out. Am I doing something wrong? Is this supposed to work?

It works fine when I output HDMI directly to an LCD TV with HDMI inputs. duh.

Anyone tried this?

It is HDCP compliant. I just purchased it a few months ago. It's a 22inch HP monitor. It just keeps blnking in and out like its out of batteries or something. I hope its not the HDMI -DVI convertor.

Not sure what's going on.

It might be the adapter or a bad connection. My D90 does the same thing when my C to A type HDMI adapter is not inserted properly.
 
My cable is brand new. Oh well, it was worth a shot. I guess not very many folks experiment with that kind of stuff.
 
i'm not with you. is it the 19 or the 22 inch that doesn't work? which one is hdcp compliant, and which isn't? or are they both?

I'm sure he's talking about the LCD of the D90 turning on and off when he connects the HDMI. When that happens to me, I have to move the adapter a little until it works. It's like the weight of the cable on the adapter messes up the connection.
 
i'm sure your'e right but that's not what i meant. he says it works fine when he uses another monitor. the 19 inch doesn't work, so the question would be if that one is hdcp compliant. whether the 22 inch one that works is doesn't really matter, does it? on the other hand it shouldn't work at all if there's an incompatibility, i agree flicker suggests a bad cable or connector.
