I am looking to utilise the Cineform codec for editing GH4 MP4 footage as I have used Cineform Neoscene for 1080p post production of GH1/GH2 files for quite some time and really like the quality that can be achieved with this workflow.
I was wondering if anyone has downscaled and exported the native GH4's 4K 100Mbs MP4 8-bit 4:2:0 files to 10 bit 4:2:2 1080p Cineform master clips within a 16 bit After Effects comp (CS5/CS6 ...not the CC version). If so how is it going and are there any issues you have come across?
Alternatively I was thinking of installing DaVinci Resolve Lite v10 or v11 when its released and using that to export 10-bit 4:2:2 1080p Cineform master clips - especially with its state of the art optical flow and scaling algorithms. I am hoping that may be if I install Cineform GoPro studio free version and Resolve Lite on a Win7 x64 hi spec PC I will have a basic editing system with incredible potential for post production of FullHD content that wont cost a dime....especially with Adobe now holding your work hostage unless you pay a perpetual license fee....sound feasible?
