Anyone shot with HMIs?

Simple question.
Has anyone shot on 5D under HMI light?
I would love to get in touch with anyone with any information on this.
Thanks in advance,
Ian

Not with the 5D, but yes with the 7D. And yes, there's complications if you use magnetic HMIs and a shutter speed other than the line frequency, so if in the USA, use a shutter speed of 1/60th. If you're using electronic-ballast, no problem.

Yup I've shot with HMI's and the 5D Mark II. If your asking about a flicker problem there isn't one. It act's like a standard tungsten, with a different color temperature. As Barry stated run your shutter at 1/60 because 60hz is the standard electricity flow in North America (assuming that's where you are).

If you run at off shutter speeds, it won't flicker like a film camera, it'll instead create scrolling bars that move through your image.

There is no such thing as an "HMI Safe" frame rate, when using a CMOS sensor. There are, however, HMI-safe shutter speeds, and (in 60Hz territories) 1/60 is an HMI-safe shutter speed.
