**anyone shoot w/gh1 + double system audio?**

i shoot plenty of talking heads.

i was hoping to read about anyone using the gh1 and a pro audio set-up, maybe a double system with boom & lav mics and even field mixer?

Any and all real world experience would be appreciated.

I've done a lot of shoots double system with a camera (haven't done one with my GH1 yet but it wouldn't be different) and a guy using a boom mic and a manfrotto digital audio recorder. I've crewed on shoots with lav mics but never had to be in charge of them...and I suppose we were doing single source for all of them, just dual system...never had to mix anything in the field.

Anyone used a Olympus LS10?

Very compact and supposed to be supreme.

The clip below was recorded on an LS10, sounds GREAT. Looking around Vimeo there is a few other bits and bobs including a short film (though it's a bit irritating) made with the LS10.

F1 journos recently used one to record an interview with the 'boss' Bernie Ecclestone. It's a pro piece of kit which can be trusted.

Question is, would it be suitable for film making like a boom mic is?

i need an external recorder that would work well with a field mixer (pre mix) and could handle a boom and a lav. xlrs are a must and the ability to control input levels go w/o saying.

if such an audio tool exists, and it could be seamlessly mated with a dslr like the gh1 then i would be thrilled shooting 720p talking heads with a nice shallow dof and using a very unassuming, non-threatening video camera.

ymmv

Nothing should really be mated to the DSLR thanks to the auto gain control. You should record sound on a seperate device.

That said Beachtek makes an XLR adapter with some mixing capabilties that is designed to defeat autogain control by introducing a constant, high pitched sound, to the recording, which is then removed in post...check that out.

Just skimmed through the first link:

The price of the new Zoom doesn't reflect the real street price of the unit.
