"I just learned from my sources that the new A77, Nex-7 and VG20 will support the new AVCHD 2.0 standard. This means that all those camera (!) will be able to record FullHD videos in 1080 60/50/25/24p at 28Mbit/s! Do you like that? Wait…there is even more! All camera will support full manual controls while recording video. And you can shoot video in P or A or S or M mode! All three cameras were development having video recording in mind. That means that the new sensor and the new BIOZ processor have been optimized to avoid artifacts like the weird jello effect. And as I already told you the new 3 million dot OLED viewfinder will have a high refresh rate!"

If this turns out to be true I think Panasonic/Canon hegemony is about to come to an end. August 24 can't get here soon enough! :cheesy:

That's what they say. In fact I don't think it will do 30p. I think Sony finally realized who the market for that camera was: indie filmmakers. And the price is still right, about $1600. I'd buy it over a DSLR. It's more video camera than still camera, but does still photos, so it's like the opposite of a DSLR. Although I am one of those people who want to see what Canon will do, but for some reason they're dragging their feet. How hard could it be to put DSLR circuitry into a classic Canon XL-1 type body and price it around $3000. Then do a baby model like the V20 for about $1200 - $1500. I don't understand, I mean this isn't rocket science. I would've done this when the DSLRs started getting so big. It would've come from the top make a DSLR type camera in an XL-body and an HG10/HF100 type camera with dual lenses/with 24p functions, for consumer 3D. But the indy filmmakers would jump on both of these. Then go back and make a prosumer version of the 3D Cam. It's seriously easy money, using current tech. I don't get it. Why wait.

Canon was fastest company that learned to listen to buyers, i think it did them good, maybe sony saw everything but had another business plan already in game and couldnt switch as fast as canon to release new cams with features people really want.
I dont know but im sceptical about this, sony is always crippling products.
