F3: Anyone see a good smallish crane for the F3 at NAB?

I ran out of time at NAB and only got a short time to investigate a replacement for my (heavy/cumbersome) Miller Pro-jib. I had a brief look at a couple of Kessler cranes and saw the Libec ones, but didn't come away with a definitive opinion on either. Did any other NAB-attendees see anything I missed in the jib department?

Hi Peter,

I've got a Cinevate Axis jib in transit to me at the moment, should have it by tomorrow, if you want to take a look-see next time you're in town just let me know.

Cheers,

Mark

That Cinevate Jib looks fantastic! I just watched their video on assembly and use, could you please let us know how it performs when you get it?

I'd love to hear what you think of it once you have it, I'm thinking of getting one as well.

That Seven jib looks great. Compact and robust.

I have a Seven Jib, along with a 24 foot reach Jimmy Jib that I have owned for years. The Seven jib is a good buy, I'm not sure what they are selling for now but I think I paid around $700.00 for the Seven. I transport the Seven in a bag, it is very compact and goes together quickly but watch the pinch points when assembling (Ouch). I have also used the ABA 50 Jib http://www.cocklinsdigital.com/blog/?p=362 , which is sold in Europe and was quite impressed with it, quick assembly, long arm and able to support large heavy cameras.

These small portable jibs ad good production value to a shoot, but you are not using them every day, If you can throw it in the back of your vehicle along with the weights and use it when needed and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg, buy it!

I just saw the latest price for the Seven Jib, double of what I paid for it but it still looks like a good buy.
