Anyone own this?

So, given the costs of the Century Optics DVX specific adapters, would there be any reason or scenario that would warrant buying one of theirs vs. a std 35mm type lens?

Shawn - To clarify I assume you mean Century Optics *lenses* as it relates to use with the micro35 (and not matte boxes, etc. or their lenses for use without the micro35).

Two part answer:

First, the use of the micro35 (or the mini35 as well) doesn't allow for any lens attachments in the optical path (save for whatever you can put on the end of the 35mm lens).

Second, you would get your wide angle or close-up with the respective 35mm lens. One benefit of the micro35 is that you get a free high-powered achromat - you could use it standalone for ultra-closeup photography. Kind of a freebie I suppose :)

So I that seems to be a qualified "no you would not need the century optics lens adapters".

Correct Brian, I'm only inquiring about the Century Optics lenses that address additional wide, tele, and macro/achromat scenarios for the DVX. And yes, I did lose sight of the fact that they would need to be used alone, without the adapter (unless for some reason one wanted to further adapt beyond whatever 35mm lens they were using for the 72mm of the Century adapters? doesn't sound like a good idea, but anyhow…)

Perhaps the more appropriate question is this:

How likely is it that even if one was to buy a 35mm adapter, that you would shoot an entire feature with the adapter on? Maybe someone other than a manufacturer can chime in here, has anyone here ever worked on a project where the mini35 was used? If so, how often was it on/off? It seems to me that because each adapter introduces some inherent visual "color" (not literal color, but effect, softness, etc), and with the stop loss, that there would be scenarios or situations where one might want to use the stock lens as is or with a stand alone adapter like the Century stuff? I'm just thinking out loud trying make sure I understand the implications of buying a 35mm adapter, a Century product, or both. Obviously I'm in need of some input from someone more sane or knowledgeable than myself (well, even if you’re not sane, please share your thoughts). Thx.
