So here's the deal.
I am taking one of my last film classes at Orange Coast College before I transfer out and for the first assignment I have to make a music video. Our teacher doesn't really care what the song is just as long as it's between 3-4 minutes.
Some of the other students in the class are doing covers of popular songs.. I don't really want to do that cause my thinking is that if I'm going to spend the money for the film, process, and telecine then I want to do something original and make it really special.
So I'm planning on shooting this on Super-8mm and maybe use my Eumig Nautica. Which is a Super-8 camera that is also an underwater camera. So since I live near the beach I can get some in the water shots and stuff like that.
All I need from you is an mp3 version of your song to send to my teacher. I'll also be sending him a treatment outlining how the music video will be put together. And I am totally open for ideas since it is your song. It would be really cool to do a folksy-rock type song to go along with the super-8.
I live in Newport Beach so if anyone local wants to meet up I'm down for that. Otherwise I'll do a exchange over email the whole time.
One last thing... Since this is for class the costs will be coming out of my pocket. I'm looking for someone who can just grant me permission to use the song. If you want to help out for film costs I would really appreciate it but it is not required nor am I looking to place the cost on you.
Thank you and I hope to hear some really cool music from you guys!
