Does anyone know what cable I'd need to use my Macbook Pro as a monitor while I'm shooting with the EX1? Are there any settings I need to change to do this?

Pardon my ignorance, but I was born a long time ago.

i dont think you can. there may be a way using firewire and having the camera set to hdv quality, i think there is a program that does that but not in hq quality.

the only way i can think is via hdsdi and the kona IO box

Using firewire you can use FCP or a nice tool like FlipFlop (search the site or google to find it).

I''m using onlocation on my PC, but I thought the CS3 package also worked on mac now? maybe you can find a copy of the Andromeda software somewhere? it was constructed for mac I think (but is discontinued now).

good luck

CS3 is available on the Mac but OnLocation is only available with the PC version...

SONY has made it so OnLocation will not work with the EX1. OnLocation needs the firewire port that is dead for HQ HD. Maybe Adobe (are you listening) could make OnLocation work with the SD-HDI out.

It's not Sony, it's the HDV firewire protocol that makes it not compatible.
This is true for all current HDV capture recorders.

You can use OnLocation using the EX1 SP mode which is HDV.
