I'm thankfully not having any issues with my 18-110... but am curious about Pro support.... do you sign up annually? And what is the cost / features? And if you don't mind answering - how much do they charge to fix the lens back to it's original working condition? Thanks.
You do sign up annually. It's the Sony Imaging PRO Support. You have to apply (not hard to get accepted) and then pay what I believe is $100 a year if I remember correctly. This is my second year with it. With it you get 24/7 phone and email support, three-day repair turnaround time so long as they have the parts you need in stock (if a part is needed for repair), in-person service centers that you can go to in seven locations around the US, on-site support at select major events, invitation to special Sony events, free trial loans to test out new gear, free loaner gear next-day aired to you for when repairs will last for more than three days, three complimentary maintenance services per year (including free cleanings), and free over-night shipping to and from repair facilities. It's pretty dang good for the money.
I haven't had to pay anything for a repair so far. I've sent in a 100-400 GM to have it fixed when the lens collar stripped and got in back in three days free of charge. I sent a second 100-400 GM in when the rings where the lens hood mounts chipped and got it back in about a week and a half (they didn't have the part in stock). That too didn't cost me and they offered me a loaner 100-400 to use while mine was being repaired. I'm now sending my 18-110 in today to have it cleaned and have the parfocal issue fixed and it too won't cost. They said I should have it back in three days as well.
So far I'm pretty happy with the Sony Imaging PRO Support. The only catch is that it's only for their lenses and their mirrorless line. I wish I could have my FS7II listed under it, but as far as I know it can't be. That being said, it's been completely worth it to have for the lenses alone and I'm happy to have it for my A7RIII and A7III as well. I recommend it.
