Anyone have the new 3.5-5.6 14-140 Lumix?

Hi all,
As you can see I have both of the fabulous 2.8 lumix lenses but was thinking about the new 3.5- 5.6 Lumix as a general purpose day lens. Looking at DOF tables the 14-140 at fairly long focal length settings still can give a reasonable shallow DOF. Any experience out there? I have read the B&H reviews but they relate generally to still use. There is also a good video review on youtube which casts some criticism on the auto focus. Feedback from AF users please.
Cheers!

I have this lens and I really like to work with it for outdoor event coverage. Very useful zoom range, very powerful image stabilisation. But it suffers from the same shortcomings as the 12-35. The iris does not remain constant while zooming, even when set to f/5.6 or smaller apertures.

Maybe this video might influence your purchasing decision.

Hi, yours is the video I mentioned. A belated thankyou for doing these tests- it is so important that we, the users see how equipment performs in real life as well as in the laboratory. Other than the auto focussing issue ( which I rarely use , but would be nice to have, ) I do like this lens and am putting it on my must have list I think. All other feedback welcome!!!
Cheers!

Has anyone had both the f4 and the f3.5 and are the differences worth the extra? weight and size are excluded as I always tripod or slider mount my 102.

I still have both model 14-140mm(s).

Don't find much of a difference & mostly picked up the new version because it accepts the same diameter filters as the 12-35/2.8 & 35-100/2.8.

thanks Bern, appreciate your feedback. The more I read, the more I am tempted to hunt down the earlier version. Prices here in New Zealand are quite high and I could save a few bucks on the earlier lens-(If I can find one in stock somewhere here.)

As an aside guys, I have an HPX-250 and a Nikon D800. I have to say I am impressed from the flicks I have seen filmed with the AG/AF 100A. I take it that all of you are pretty happy with your camera and this lens? It may sound crazy with 4K resolutions and such, but I think the images from this camera are great.

Hi Bill, this camera is remarkable. It offers huge versatility to the serious video maker. But like all tools, it requires practice and understanding to get the best from it. Any of the MFT Lumix lenses will perform well on this, the "happiness" comes from nailing the exposure. Get this wrong and the AF is very unforgiving in my experience. But get it right and it will reward you with delightful images. And get your scene file setup tuned to your taste and beautiful and subtle colour grading with low acutance images are within your reach. (I personally can't stand electronically sharpened edges that leave a white line around detail- pixel peeping shows this horror nicely.) Yes I like it!
Cheers!

Hi Folks, just an update: I have opted for the earlier f4 version: My reasons are based on Bern's comments, reviews indicating nicer engineering, grip, handling etc, larger size( I am always tripod/slider mounted so heavier mass is better for me,), and of course price. I have reviewed both lenses thoroughly and while the newer version is reported as optically slightly better it is not worth the 50% higher cost to me in my sort of work. Just thought you would like to know!
Cheers!
