anyone have battery issues?

So i just received my new dvx100B which includes an original 7.2V 5400mAh battery.

I depleated whatever power was left in the battery when new, then charged it to full overnight. The next morning i plugged the new fully charged battery to the camera, the battery meter icon was showing full, but mins told me 15. After a good quarter left in the battery, the mins suddenly went up to 55 mins then to 0 mins. I tried it again, and same thing, full battery but only showing 15 mins. any ideas?
 
The minutes are for the tape, not the battery. I know, it freaked me out at first also, I was scratching my head wondering what the hell was going on, Panny just put the battery and tape indicators in a place where they can easily confuse a novice user.

Did you change tapes? that might have been why the minutes changed.
 
Man I think I am getting bored or cynical or have a bad case of "read the manual". Maybe its because John Hudson isnt around lately?
