Anyone have a B4 2/3" ENG Lens on their AF100?

Yes, please share your views on this after a better look.

I took another look & maybe it is the Vimeo compression, or my eyes aren't trained well enough to see the difference, but I am very hard pressed to see a difference between the SD & HD lens, as well as the two different adapters. Which I guess is bad news of the guys selling the more expensive equipment, but good for people who want to hold onto their money.

I have a big Canon SD x20 lens with the cheaper adapter, yes it does look different and there is a little softening around the edges but not as objectionable as you would think, in fact its a very organic look in some respects this subtle look is desirable and would take many render cycles when added in post.

Scott, your setup looks nice! Do you shoot at f8 and above purely for sharpness sake? If you go lower does it get too soft with that lens? Math wise, the double would just double your lowest aperature setting right? Would you be able to go down to f4 on that lens?

Sorry Jon - just noticed your question.

I like f/5.6-8 with this lens because it seems to be the point where chromatic aberration minimizes and the sharpness peaks. With the doubler in place, it is actually f/11-16 but not a problem with 0 or 1 ND.

I wouldn't think of using this lens inside but outdoors where's there's plenty of light it looks reasonably good. Granted, this is a SD lens from my old BVW-D600; an HD lens would obviously be better.

I'm interested to see if anyone is using a 2/3" lens on their AF100. My biggest question is that you need to use a 2x "doubler" to cover the sensor, but how is that looking once the 2x is engaged?

Every time I've engaged the 2x on a Betacam or DVCPro camera, I felt that the image went to crap. Lost resolving power, loss of light, lots of CA, etc.

I know some lenses will perform better than others, but I'm interested to see what people's experiences are & if they have any samples.

Here are a couple of videos that I made. The first one is about a powered zoom grip I was selling, but you may find it interesting, and the second is about a lens that I'm selling (or sold depending when you watch this) and it shows how smoothly you can zoom, and the resolution that it produces. All shot with the 2X extender of the lens engaged. There is still plenty of light (F1.7 max aperture).

Using the built in 2X extender is WAY better than using the crop mode of your camera. Crop mode introduces a lot of noise and degrades the image quality.

I hope you find them somewhat helpful!
