Anyone has experience with the IndiSlider Mini?

Hi guys,

I just got my IndiSLIDER Mini, and I have an issue with it. I have emailed IndiSYSTEM a couple days ago and they have not responded.

I got the basic unit with the feets, and it comes with a smaller thread (mounted on a circular block) so I can not mount my fluid head on it, I tried to remove the block by unscrewing the side lock, but it doesn't seem to be able do anything. Has anyone one have similar experiences? or know of a way around of putting fluid head on it.

The website shows a slightly different unit without the circular block, and states you can mount a fluid head on it, thats why I didn't decide on the Deluxe model, (now I know, I should have ordered a deluxe model instead). I wish the website will also state more information so I could have made an informed choice.

Cheers

You can get a sleeve that will adapt the smaller 1/4 to your 3/8 tripod head... Can you post a pic?

Buy the bushing locally or on eBay to avoid paying $4.95 to ship a $1.95 item. (Why does B&H do this?)

IndiSYSTEM is terrible about getting back to people; I've received no response to a shipping question I sent a month ago.

Living in Australia doesn't help either, we pay a lot for shipping and hence I think having the right information really helps. I seen reviews on this decided based on that as the info on the infoSYSTEM is very limited. However, this could be a slightly revised version as some reviews had suggested it was very wobbly, but my unit seem to be very firm and stable, thou I haven't really used it cause of the issue of teh mount.

If anyone wants this slider, I highly recommend the get the Deluxe model, to save all the truoble.

Thanks for the info guys, I much prefer to avoid the 1/4-to-3/8 screw adapter. Concern, it getting stuck in the fluid head, cause I will be using in between my tripod and the slider frequently.

If I could remove the circular PVC block with damaging the slider it would be great.

To remove the circular pvc block, you first need to remove the mounting piece. The circular block is actually two pieces. Unscrew the side screw on the circular block, and then pull UP on the camera mounting screw. All of a sudden you will see that there is a smaller circular piece inside of the bigger circular piece. You need to have the side screw unscrewed a good amount before the middle piece comes out.

As for the adapters, they have a notch on them to make sure you can remove them if they stay inside the fluid head. Just use a screwdriver, or penny, or anything else with a small edge.

Additionally, I tried using a fluid head with the indi slider mini, but it doesn't work well. The slider track has too much give to it, so every time I move the fluid head, the track shifts slightly, so it is no longer smooth. I tried adjusting the track, but all I ended up doing was making it too tight to move.

If anyone has any suggestions on aligning the track, I would love to hear it. The customer service with the company is lacking, and they never return my emails.

hey mark, would you recommend this small slider for the HMC150 if I decided to use a fluid head or should I purchase a bigger slider? i'm on the fence on this one. thanks.

Mark, you are indeed correct. Thanks for the tip!

I managed to removed a smaller block (within the larger one). It was concealed very tightly and seamlessly, as it was one piece! and I only managed to get it out by screwing a camera on top and slowly pulling it out! I still couldn't mount a fluid head without the PVC block (as there is a very little gap for the screw), so I've order some thread adapters, to see if it is stable enough with the PVC block.

Don't get me wrong the InidiSliderMini is nicely built, and solid enough for most cameras, but I have yet to use on a HMC150. I probably have to use this for my DSLR instead, and plan to get a larger/longer slider in future.

Shame, it came with ZERO instructions or support! Otherwise, I will be more satisfied with it.

Cheers
Tom
