Anyone had this audio problem?

Hi, just wondering if anyone had encountered a strange, high pitched electronic ticking sound in the audio they recorded using this camera. It actually sounded like timecode ticking over. Once we imported the tracked into Final Cut, the ticking seems to be gone, (even though it was there in the playback we did earlier), but now seems to be replaced by a kind of fuzzing sound, as if the audio gain had been turned up too loud.

Any thoughts on this?
