Anyone get an iPAd yet?

Wait, so there is no way no to get unlimited, or is it just more money?

from what i've read, the plan will cost $25 with a $10 fee for each GB over 2 GB.

current customers will have the option to keep their unlimited plan for the time being.

Over here Rogers is offering a 5GB plan for $30/month.
Although a shared plan is in the works for those who already have a data plan with their iPhone. I'm waiting for word on that.

Of course I could just cut down my iPhone sim card, buy an adapter and just swap it between the two if I like. Using my existing $25/month 6GB plan that I never come close to using 25% of. :)

I read how it goes into effect June 7th, the iPad multi tasking OS4 comes out June 14th.

The most 3G I have used in one day is about 20MB, to many wifi hot spots around here to worry about it, the iPad automatically switches over to wifi when it's available, when it's not then it goes into 3G mode. I have not had it for 30 days to report my total monthly usage yet but I'm sure it'll be around one gig.

I definitely want unlimited. I'm waiting for new iPad to drop before I get one but the reports say the same thing that you guys have: people are dropping their laptops for the most part.

Final Draft is coming for the iPad as well, that's pretty exciting to me. Along with the Autodesk Sketchpad and a few other tools, it'll be quite a creative liberty to pay for.

Going to grab both 4G iPhone and 4G iPad...

I dunno what I'm going to do with my M11X Netbook, though. It's been a blast having it and being able to cut RED footage in a parking lot or while eating lunch out.

I think it'll still have a place since it's replaced all of my computing needs as a whole.

Hopefully there will be a lot of laptops flooding the used markets and the prices on them will go down. I need a new laptop. Can't even watch HD video on Vimeo on this one.

Kholi,

My advice to you is wait, Apple is launching the 4G iPad sooner than people think and the multi tasking OS sooner than people think, (June 14th, a week after the 4G iphone launches). I'd wait until the very last day of August to see where things are at if you are on the fence.

I'm REALLY surprised you haven't jumped on the development bandwagon.

I like the iPad, it's just not enough for what I need. But I like what I saw. I need one of two things right now, a cheap desktop computer or a cheap laptop. A G5 1.8 or an Mac Mini 1.83 or a cheap macbook (I'm really thinking more G5, who am I kidding) and for the money an iPad cost, I could be grabbing one of these or even a refurbished/used Macbook. I imagine it's useful as heck but right now it falls under the heading of a non-need. The iPhone fell into this category too for me as did the iPod touch, though I might get an next year if all goes well financially.

I watched Steve Jobs web cast today from the Apple WWDC conference, he said there have already been 2 million iPads sold in the first two months, one every 3 seconds, (it goes on sale in 19 more countries at the end of June). The number that really blew me away was later this month apple will have sold over 100 million iPhones, iPod Touches and iPads combined. Another impressive number was over 5 billion apps have now been downloaded.

the new iphone display thing is unreal, 300ppi is amazing.

if the color is good, that will be awesome for the next ipad.

that's not even double the density it's more like 2.25x.

that might be the end of aliasing.

No, it's better than 300ppi, it's 326 ppi.

i only saw pictures of the keynote, one picture said something like 326 but 300 limit for something.

that will be awesome on the ipad.

The 300 limit 'for something' is the point where the eye can't see the jaggies' that make curves and text look blocky / edgy.

Just think how sweet the 4G iPad will be!

Safari?! thats now ancient, Chrome's javascript is much faster in fact its the fastest engine on the planet.

The fact it actually compiles the javascript to native machine code on the fly is one of the reasons for its ultra speed.

Even with a ton of heavy CPU applications eg MS SQL Server, 3Ds Max, Visual Studio 2008 & multiple RDPs I'm still browsing at near instance speed (while a full scan of AVG is running) plus five other tabs in different browsers.

I'd like to see how well the ipad renders my HTML Pixel Table format now that would be a good test:

see here about Chromes V8 engine:

Safari 5 was released a couple hours ago, it's 30% faster than Safari 4 and now faster than Chrome. I'm using it now, my computer just got a big internet speed increase. I hope it's also an update for the iPAd Safari.
