Anyone found an intervalometer for the RX10 yet?

I'd like to utilize the RX10 for some timelapse stuff, but so far can't find an intervalometer. Anyone have any luck finding one?

thats interesting, i just tried that app and yea, works but in auto. should contact the guy that made it and ask if he's working on any advancements. according to sony, they're not even supporting API for any RX camera for apps. one guy on vimeo made a timelapse but hasn't responded to what controller he used

I've already been talking to the author. I'm not sure how much control he has but the QX camera has more control so maybe he can come up with something.

I'll through this out there because it works. But it has such significant drawbacks that I'm not sure how usable. So if you have an android smartphone a new app just showed up:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.thibaudperso.sonycamera

This works with the RX10 if you select QX10/QX100. Unfortunately just like the PlayMemories mobile app it forces the camera into auto mode -- so you cannot set your own aperture, shutter speed, etc.
It worked for my RX10. Thanks. Hopefully they'll update the app for the RX10 and enable manuals settings.
Now I'm left to think what other apps designed for the QX cameras work for the RX10?

Over at Dpreview (http://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/52982392) user Wingsthree has used a combination of items to make an intervalometer. It is for a RX-100 II, but it uses the same Multiport as we have on our RX-10 so I presume the commands and protocal are the same between the cameras althought I won't know until I test the theory.

Here's the hardware he's using.
* TimeLapse+
* TimeLapse+ 2.5mm adapter (not sure which one, C1 Cable (Generic / Canon / P1 Cable (Panasonic) / or other cable?)
* Sony Multi Terminal to 2.5mm Shutter Release Adapter (http://www.gethypoxic.com/browse/st...age=flypage.tpl&product_id=150&category_id=13)

I sent a message to the Wingsthree to see what features the Timelapse+ hardware actually supported but haven't heard back from him yet. TimeLapse+ does things like Bulb-ramp Time-lapse (bramping), TimeLapse obviously, HDR, and a whole host of other things.

Here's how I understood he had his connected to his RX100II.
RX100 II --> connected to a Sony Multi Terminal to 2.5mm Shutter Release Adapter from (http://www.gethypoxic.com/browse/st...age=flypage.tpl&product_id=150&category_id=13) --> connected to a 2.5mm adapter cable from TimeLapse+ (not sure which one, could be either I suggested above.) --> then finally controlled by the TimeLapse+ comptroller hardware (https://www.timelapseplus.com/)

Hopefully with this information, I can obtain the parts, assemble the kit and see how to get this going on the RX-10. He also, mentions that the Sony Multi Terminal to 2.5mm Shutter Release Adapter works with the pclix hardware. (http://www.pclix.com/).

Keep in mind, I haven't used any of this hardware and thus can't confirm the operation. But I'm willing to try it out.

$90 for a cable? Yikes.
Yeah, the adapter cable is an expensive proposition. I'm just waiting for a knockoff to become available. I think the cable should be $5-$10 tops. But OTOH, nobody else makes such a cable that I'm a aware of making it a rare beast to be sure. So is it priced high for what it offers...? A solution to our time lapse woes.

Exactly. When you have something that no one else offers, you're in control. Maybe we could get a group buy going?

Great. Looks like progress.

To keep it all at Amazon, how about the cable you recommended.

Plus this...

VariZoom VZ-AV/LANC Mini Audio/Video to LANC Converter
http://www.amazon.com/VariZoom-VZ-AV-LANC-Audio-Converter/dp/B003P9VN86/ref=pd_cp_e_2

Here's the key question...Is the VariZoom VZ-AV/LANC Mini Audio/Video to LANC Converter different than the Acebil AC-LANC.AVR 40cm/15.74" Exchange Cable Adapter from LANC to Sony AV/R.

I wonder if the Vivitar 8 Button Remote Control fits Canon & Sony and other Camcorders with LANC or A/VR Jacks works for our RX-10? I'm tempted to try it out. http://www.amazon.com/Vivitar-Button-Remote-Control-Camcorders/dp/B004AW0QGM/ref=pd_sim_p_22

In order to see if any of these cables combinations work, we need (hopefully a generic Canon) intervalometer, TimelapsePlus or Pclix to interface with our RX10. Maybe at that point a regular Canon intervalometer will work. In that case, we'll have cracked the code, but we still have to figure out which 2.5mm adapter plug to purchase? I see two different versions; the C1 Cable (for Generic / Canon) and the P1 Cable (for Panasonic). I'm willing to throw $100 at the problem to see if it works.

I received word back from the Hypoxic guys. Here's their response.

Thomas,

I apologize about the delay. We had an event this weekend and unfortunately meant I disregarded my emails. It appears the RX10 or any camera where Sony has the RM-VPR1 adapter as an accessory will work with our adapter. The pin out for the 2.5mm is the same as the standard Canon 2.5mm jack. Tip is shutter, ring is focus and shield is ground. Any Canon 2.5mm shutter release switch should work.

Hope this answers all your questions. If you order a unit and it does not work for you for any reason, you can always return it sans the cost of shipping.

Thank you,
-Trunk

I own a Sony RX10 digital camera and I'm trying to determine which 2.5mm adapter plug to use with your Sony Multi Terminal to 2.5mm Shutter Release Adapter. Other Sony cameras like the RX-100, RX-100 II, A7, and A7r also use the Sony Multi Terminal connection so this information will be hugely important to them if you can help with an answer. I'll post the results on the several forums where alot of people are looking for a solution.

Us camera owners are looking at your adapter as a possible solution to provide a standard 2.5mm connection for use with a myraid of camera control products like intravelometers, shutter release remote, etc, etc. Will a standard Canon/Generic 2.5mm shutter release, or intravelometer work on the female end of your Hypoxic adapter? If not, what manufacturer 2.5mm male adapter would you recommend to use with your adapter?

Sounds like all we need are Canon intravelometer and the adapter to see if it all works.

Also I found that the user Wingsthree is: I'm able to time lapse shoot my RX100 M2 with a Pclix intervalometer, connected to the multi-terminal on the camera. You'll need a connecting this cable, and a C-300 cable from Pclix, and you'll be good to go.

Well, this is what I currently have:
Pearstone Wireless ShutterBoss Timer Remote

Vello FreeWave Camera Release Cable for Panasonic Cameras
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/758155-REG/Vello_RCC_P1_FreeWave_Camera_Release_Cable.html

So should I be able to buy the Multi-Terminal adapter and a 2.5mm adapter cable and be ready to shoot?
The ShutterBoss you have is for Nikon 10Pin connection and the camera release cable you have is for a Panasonic. I'm not sure how you'd rig up a Nikon 10Pin to a Panasonic camera release cable. Maybe if you used: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/749828-REG/Vello_RCC_C1_FreeWave_Camera_Release_Cable.html that along with the adapter may work to trigger the RX10. Or better yet get it all in one with this: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/749291-REG/Vello_RCW_C1_Wireless_ShutterBoss_Timer_Remote.html

I guess what I meant to say is that what I have accepts 2.5mm cable adapters. I'm assuming I should be able to find a male-male 2.5 adapter and use it in conjunction with the shutterboss. The Panasonic one was weird because it had 4 terminals (on the camera end) instead of the usual 3.

Thing is, all 2.5mm Sub-Mini Connections are not the same. Some are wired differently than others. My understanding of Trunk's post above is that the Canon, Canon EOS Digital Rebel and 60D, Contax N and 645, Pentax K-5, Sigma SD and Samsung GX series 2.5mm mini sub connections are compatible, but the Panasonic one is wired differently so I can't comment on them. Which cable goes to the hot, ground and negative pin on 2.5mm is the difference in cables.

I suppose in the end you could buy the adapter cable mentioned above and attempt it yourself. Then you'd know definitively.

Too complicated and expensive. Surely some 3rd party can come up with something???
