GH4 Anyone film corporate work/commercials/talking heads?

Although you're right about the lighting, something tells me your statement isn't completely accurate. When I watched the footage the look of the Woodward interview jumped out to me as well. I think the camera has a lot to do with it as well.

To my eyes its the composition of the shot and the background light that makes it pop. It also has the most layer of light/depth behind the interviewer and some nice colours. They lit the background very well. Sure the camera might have something to do with it but the rest of the elements are what makes it pop.

I'm just looking into wether i can post a frame from a shoot this weekend with the Pana/Leica 42.5 1.2 as the head/shoulders shot. It was a quick and dirty fly in, setup, shoot so I'm mixed about how it turned out. The things that bug me about the shot were out of my control like the fact that the wall colours, skin tones and decor was really monocromatic beige. I wanted to try to bring in the window light for some contrasting colour but given the weather that wasn't possible. In the end the client liked it and that is what pays the bills.

The camera settings were Natural -4, -4, -5, -2, 0 with Highlight/Shadow flat, iDynamic Off, iResolution Off, Luminance 0-255, and Master Pedestal 0.

I had a soft key on the subjects' front and a soft rim on their back. I white balanced for the key. This produced an awful green cast to the background due to the overhead fluorescent lighting. I removed the green cast and darkened the background in post. I also corrected the subjects to give them better color and contrast.

Here's a before & after comparison:
