Anyone else not able to import footage into FCPX/Mountain Lion?

I know this is more editing but I figured some of you guys must be editing on FCPX. We upgraded to Mountain Lion and are now not able to import our footage into FCPX. Looks like the OS is reading the PRIVATE folder differently. Any ideas?

I Log & Transfer all my footage in FCP7 because it's easier to custom name clips - I import as ProRes 422, sometimes HQ, and then after I open Capture Scratch folder and place the clips in appropriately named folders - Then I import the clips (Import - not Import From Camera) and the clips and folders come in already labeled and sorted by keywords - I can select or de-select "copy to Event Folder" and/or "Optimize media" depending on the position of the original drive (ie, if it's an external FW drive I copy, thus keeping it as a backup). I find this a much better system in the long run. Of course, if you don't have access to 7, you don't have any choice.

However, I have imported clips directly from the cards - when testing lenses for instance - and have never had a problem. You do have to chose "Import From Camera" when you do that, which is one of those quirky little amateurish qualities of FCPX - like "Events"! Clips have gone in BINS since the beginning of cinema, why the hell Apple feels the need to make up these stupid new terms eludes me..

We have FCP7 on another system and I considered this workflow only to get us working on this project as a workaround. Seems completely ridiculous as AVCHD footage imported directly into FCPX before Mountain Lion. Everything worked perfectly before. We've spent 4 hours so far this morning getting and organizing footage through workarounds. I really don't know what Apple is thinking latley.
