When ever im using the focus ring or do "movements" with the camera... I started to noticed that front section thats underneith the FOCUS ring "Section in RED" makes alittle klanking noise and is loose.. www.illconcepts.com/camera.jpg

I really notice the noise when I change Lens... twisting on and off each time. Even when the wide lens or 16x9 lens is on the camera... and i move the camera around or use the focus ring i can feel and hear the little loose klanking noise from the front section.

Even if i give a turning pressure with my figers on the front section it moves and makes that noise. I dont really remeber the same problem on my old 100 but started to notice it when im using my 100A.

Anyone elses front section makes the same noise like mine? Is this a common thing? Should I take it in for fixing? Poor construction?

Re: Anyone else have this problem?!?

I don't know if we're talking about the same thing, but there's a clanking noise on every DVX100... when the camera is OFF or in VCR mode. This has to do with the servo zoom mechanism I think and is absolutely normal.

Is it the same noise you're talking about ? If you have it in Camera mode, then there is a problem.

The problem happens when its off or no... doest matter... its the front section of the camera that wiggles... and makes the noise. its not the sevro system... i not the same noise...

Re: Anyone else have this problem?!?

i have used 2 diff "A" cams that i have changed the lens on and have not noticed anything that clanks. Im guessing that your focus ring maybe a little loose because you mention wriggle, the 2 cam Ive used were smooth with no wiggle at all. The thing is you highlighted the zoom ring also it looks like. I did notice there was a little play back and forth with both cams even though the ring is alot smoother than my 1st gen DVX.

Re: Anyone else have this problem?!?

I have recently bought the DVX100AE (pal) and I have had the same problem!! But I have fixed it easily: just remove the anti-reflection front plate (2 mini screws). Then you'll see 4 screws which hold the front unit. Just tighten them properly (specially the top one). In my case they were loose and caused the unpleasant front movement...
Which quality control had Panasonic here..?
