If my memory is correct I think I read somewhere a few weeks back that there was a delay on production of these and first ones available would only be available with FS7K etc. If correct then they may not be available on their own for a few weeks.
First shipment of 18-110 will be with FS7 II bundle. Then syand alone. My guess is well into Feb. it was never officially announced forend of Nov. it was just an off the cuff comment that was then spread on the internet.
Is anyone even excited for this lens? I'm sure someone is, but an f/4 zoom is an f/4 zoom. On S35 you get little control over DoF and often not enough light if you're shooting events at night.
That's not to say it isn't a "great deal" when compared to other cinema lenses, or that at $2,499 I wouldn't be tempted, but $3,499 is a bit much-- especially when you have the 18-105mm Sony G f/4 for $599. Or the 18-200mm Sony for $799.
The a7sII is on sale for $2,500 at B&H, and I see the 28-135mm Sony cine lens for $2K often, for for $1K more than the APS version you can have an excellent FF low-light camera and a better fitting Sony Cone zoom.
I'm excited for this lens. Will probably pick one up after the price drops. I have the 18-105 and it's a workhorse for me but is a pain to use as it's focus by wire and the manual focusing is in my opinion, barely usable on the FS7 even after I update the lens firmware. I still use it as there's no other lens that does what it does for it's price ($500 I purchased it for 2 yrs ago). Now if any lens manufacture releases a brand new 16/17/18-50mm 2.8 IS/non-is before then I'll pick that one up. I shoot Nikon for stills and the only decent (sharp) standard zoom lens is the sigma 17-50mm 2.8 OS and that's long in the tooth.
