Anyone? Anyone? What is this warning?

I've posted this a few times without many replies, but I'm sure there are some knowledgeable DVX users here who might have some good input. I was shooting with my DVX yesterday and after I had cut tape, the screen went blue and in red letters, this came up on the screen:

AUTO OFF
S_REEL LOCK

What does this mean? I turned off the camera, then turned it back on and continued shooting. I played back a few minutes later, and the footage looked good. Later in the day, on another tape, it started happening again, and happened 4 times in about 20 minutes. It only happened right after cutting tape, never while rolling.

Any thoughts? Do you think this is a camera issue or tape issue? I shoot with the PQs...The manual lists this warning but says very little about it. My camera has almost 200 hrs, and I've never had it professionally serviced...should I? Any feedback and advice would be great.

A quick SEARCH for "reel lock" will reveal that this is a pretty serious issue and that you should contact an authorized Panasonic Repair center.


The fact that it's been discussed so many times before (at least every week!) is probabaly why you didn't get many replies, to this or your other thread. The Search really is your friend.
