Anybody wanna go half's...???

Note just in case you missed it : the link you supplied is for the Import plug-in and not the Export Plug -in.

BTW: Getting used to being broke...you are a film maker and it is a hard graft for your art sake. You have to suffer a lot ...for a long time yet .

;-)

Good luck at Sundance.

The car analogy is wrong. PP 1.5 gives you everything you need to edit video. If it did not, for example, have audio editing tools, that would be like a car without wheels -- unusable without that part.

Second point: The market pretty much decides what products will cost what money. If Automatic Duck, or any other vendor, charges more than what the product's worth, the product won't sell, and AD will have to drop the price or abandon the product (or go bankrupt). If the market will support that price, AD will sell it for that. If the market would support me selling my DVDs for $100 a pop, you're darn tootin' I'd sell it for that.

PPRO states a complete system. They left certain applications out on purpose for after market "plug in" profits. It's so obvious. It's not a fair market price, because there is only one company that makes it. Adobe has only authorized one company to create it and design it to work w/PPRO. If there were 3 or 4 companies out there with the same plug in, you can bet that the cost would only be about $ 50. But, because Adobe goal is to make more money, they only authorize one company to make and sell the authorized plug in. It's great business for Adobe. Bad for the consumer.

I think the car analogy is correct, because I can not use PPRO without buying the plug in. PPRO claims to be for the "Professional" film maker, well, then, if OMF files are the industry standard, then why does PPRO leave that one bit of programming out of their program???..... oh, wait, they do make it....but it will cost $ 500 more!

I'm screwed. I should've went with Avid instead.

I appreciate that you're annoyed, but you couldn't be more wrong in all the points you're making. I won't try to convince you, that seems like it would be wasted effort, but just let it be said that what you claim about the way Adobe and Automatic Duck are working together couldn't be more wrong.

Best wishes.

PimpDaddy,

Just because it doesn't do everything YOU want it do, doesn't mean it's not complete. If it had to meet every need of every filmmaker on the planet, it would cost $10 million. Are you willing to pay that premium? It sounds like you don't have a basic grasp of economics.

Sirius,

I'm not sure I follow you. If people still want to discuss a topic, shouldn't they be free to?

I only said that because in an earlier post PimpDaddy stated
Agreed. I'm just crying cause I'm broke.

One nomination at Sundance will make it all up.

So I just thought he had come to his senses and realized that it is what it is.... I guess I was wrong because then he comes back with the same complaint and crazy car analogy again...
He's comparing PPro to a new car without tires when in reality it's more like a new car without a CD player. The car will do it's job and get you from point to point without a CD player and that's exactly what PPro does - It gets the job done.
By Pimps rational the software is totally useless and unusable by ANYONE. In reality I've only heard one other person on this forum wish for this feature.

Sirius,

Unfortunately, it seems like he won't be dissuaded from his position, no matter how much logic you throw at him...
