Anybody using the pre record feature?

Was curious to see if anyone was benefiting from using the pre record feature. At first I was thinking it was kind of cool, being a wedding videographer. But then realized that most of my clips wouldn't be set up properly at the beginning. And in order for it to be of use, I'd have to have the shot framed correctly 3 seconds before hitting record otherwise they wouldn't be useable anyway. Is there something I'm missing?

It can be nice for events I guess, but I never turned it on when I had a camera that did that. Some event work, mostly planned out shots for me. Which I assume would be the main use.

yes, you never miss the snap of the football. anticipating the snap is usually chewing up un-needed time on the card. i just compose and lock and wait for the ball to go.

love it.

I use it all the time. For example, waiting for speeches to start at a wedding, just need to frame the shot and wait for it to start then press the red button, rather than having the camera rolling for 15 mins just in case.

I posted this a while back:

I put together a couple clips of the crazy lightning tonight. Thought you might want to see it. I also wanted to see how the pre-record feature would edit up... Overcranked 60p to 24p.

Thanks! I guess it can be useful in the situations above. I guess any time you're on a tripod waiting for something to happen. Actual run and gun might not work too well, since I am literally running to get to the next place right before hitting record. Now what about TC and Free Run?
