Anybody used it with leica lens yet?

I just landed a Leitz Summilux 50mm/1.4-M locally for a really good price. Can't wait to try the GH1 out with it. Anybody out there shooting with the lieca lenses? I would love to see some samples. If not, you can expect tons of samples from me once I get my JR preorder filled.

Also, does anybody know where in the world you can find the official panasonic leica M mount to micro 4/3 adapters? I've been able to find a number of off brand/ no name adapters but can not find the panasonic one for the life of me.

DMW-MA2M is the part number.

I have a voucher for £25 off this M mount adapter (or the R mount adapter), let me know if you're interested and I'll give you the details. Came via the Lumix Lifestyle club. Panasonic's online shop / community.

How much was your lens, just out of curiosity if you don't mind me asking? :)

I bought an M adapter made by Voigtlander from the US distributor. I have since received my GH1 and played a little with my old Leica-CL lenses (28mm, 40mm, 90mm). Actually the 28mm is a Minolta lens made for the Minolta CLe in partnership with Leitz. I don't have any samples yet. I am hoping to head up to Rocky Mountain National Park next week and get a chance to seriously play.

Nice! If possible, bring a tripod/gorillapod ... I'd love to see some static shots & very slow pans shot in RMNP. (I just got back from a 4,500 mile road trip including Glacier Nat'l. Park, MT -- but without a GH1! So sad.) Enjoy your trip! :)

I'm fairly new to video, other than home movies from a mini-DV vidcam. But I do still photography. I often tripod. I have a 4x5 background. By "static shot" do you mean stills? I also do plan to play with video, mostly of things like waterfalls. But without moving the camera. Ny tripod is not really set up fro video. It doesn't have geared movements or anything. Also, not doing much video I wouldn't know how to make the file small enough to post or send. In general I plan to shoot in HD mode because I don't think I need 1080p and i'm not very interested in AVCHD transcoding or editing.

It's all good, RS-Colo. By "static" I meant motion video, but with the camera stationary (like on a locked-up tripod, or sitting on a rock, etc.) and letting the scene play out: Water flowing, trees swaying, clouds/fog moving, etc.

The GH1's "HD" mode @ 1,280 x 720, 30 fps should look great for the above. Myself I like to record at _least_ 10 seconds for each video clip. Ask yourself: If it were a still photo, what's the minimum amount of time you'd want to gaze at the scene before looking at a different photo. Also, a clip that's at least 10 seconds long (or more) gives you some time at the head & tail of the clip to work with if you later decide to edit or transition between clips. Anyway, that's just me.

Again, have a great trip!

Definitely interested! I found a voigtlander from cameraquest for 149+9.25% CA tax (grumble) plus 8 shipping, but I'd rather get the panasonic one. How much is retail on that puppy?

As far as the lens goes, I got it for $600 US. Thing is mint with original lens caps. Looks like it's never been used. I've seen them go on ebay for around 1200 or more. What is the lumix lifestyle club. I'm intreaged.

I don't have my camera yet though. Hoping JR comes through this week.

The only report I’ve seen was here (on a G1),

Like RS-Colo, I am coming to video with a background in photography (everything from newspaper photography to view camera landscapes). I am fascinated by the possibilities video offers, but find deciphering the specs and differences between the cameras confusing. I have lots of Leica and Canon lenses and wonder whether to buy the GH1 or the 5D2, or perhaps the Pentax K7, or wait for a Nikon 700x with video...Or, buy a video camera.
