anybody still waiting on 8 GB cards?

I ordered my HVX w/8 gb cards in December, and have been holding out for them, convinced that the extra storage is worth the wait (i was told mid-Feb). I'm now being told by Abel Cinetech that there is no timeline for the 8 GB chips, and they have been told to stop selling that package. Is anyone else in this situation (about to concede and change order to 4 GB chips)? And does anyone have any information about why Panasonic is holding these chips up, or any insight into whether the wait time is worth it and if I should just get the camera with 4gb chips and start working with it?

I would say why not get 2x4gigs. At least you have the option to use both at the same time and than dump footage off one while the other still shoots.

Depends on what you need them for I guess.

B&H shipped my camera yesterday. I may get it today. They had my entire package in stock except for the 2 GB P2 cards. I ordered the 8GB cards because I plan on shooting HD with this camera and because I read that changing p2 cards is a bit of a hassle (I would have to change 4 GB cards more often). B&H has no idea when the 8GB will come in. This is a problem as I want to fully test out the camera in HD. I'm not sure how to handle this issue, but you are not alone.

Yeah, I heard from one retailer that they were told that Panny isnt shipping any more 8gig cards since there is such a high demand for them since the price dropped. Retailers are being told to push the 4gig cards. I called around tring to find some 8gig cards but with no luck, so i wound up getting one 4 gig for now untill they start shipping the 8gig again.
