Any word on the Sony F3 servo zoom?

[powervideo]

Sony has been really quiet about the new zoom for the F3. I asked Sony reps about it at the SMPTE show in Sydney but all I got was Schultz... "I know NUTHINK" Very frustrating.

If you are talking about the full range zoom, they had a prototype under a glass case at NAB a few months back. Price was north of $10,000 USD. I have seen timelines placing it all the way to 2012. The 11-16 PL lens is the first one to be released. Don't think it is a servo operated lens. The following 2 lens releases are supposed to be F3 mount based lenses including the long range one. The first one is slotted for late 2011 release.

that's about what i heard as well, from a gentleman at Band Pro. but that was before the tsunami. i'd be surprised to see anything before the new year.

Yeah I guessed as much. I could really use it for some jobs.

I heard that was a rehoused Tokina. Anyone else hear anything like that?
