Any tips for a noob on first real shoot.

I've had my AF100 for roughly 4 months, so I'm comfortable with the settings, functions and all of that. On Friday a friend and I are going to shoot a live musical performance on my AF100 and his DSLR. It will be my first 2 camera shoot. Playing director and DP for two cameras seems like it might be a daunting task.

We are taking the audio from the show directly from the board so that shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Just wondering if anyone has any tips or words of wisdom to empart. thanks.

Just a few things I learned off the top of my head:
- match white balance on cameras
- shoot a color chart so you can match colors in post if you can't match them prior
- have some communication system (mobile phones with good headset)

Audio will be more of an issue than you think or can imagine. Dont expect to just walk up to the mixer operator with a plug in your hand and ask for an immediate connection. Check it out and test it well before the shoot. (Get a soundy to do it for you)

Hi Klitch,

Never think you've got the focus nailed on the Af100, especially if you're moving around doing a live recording.

Keep that peaking switched on and only ever have it off just to check your video levels. That 'soft focus look' can come back and bite you on a big screen when you're not expecting it.

just my 2 cents.

Good luck,

Vaughan
