Any thoughts? - My 1st couple HD project clips

How did you make that time lapse shot of the clouds?
I just bought the camera and was wondering how to do it.
Did you sped up the shot in post?
Or did you shoot it like that on the camera?

Its speed up in post... it was originally about a 5 minute shot. The clouds were really moving that day.

kabokuti, look up interval recording,

Derrick

EDIT:

my mistake, the HMC150 only supports 24, 30, 60 frames per second, the HVX200 and HPX170 supports a function that allows you to take one frame every X seconds, interval recording, giving you what you are after, sorry, my mistake.

I'd say you have some great looking colors to some of these and well composed and exposed, but this is a really boring collection of stuff and not very varied. I'd say to collect a ton of stuff and throw a montage together that has some real eye candy in the piece. There's a ton of great examples on the HVX thread. You might also want to have a variety of different reels. I have one just for editing, one for DPing and an overall producers/ behind the scenese reel. A series of selects would be also something to cover.

Overall this should be cut tighet and I wouldn't have a rainy shot of a sidewalk in things and the skatboarder with a wedgie and that. Make it pop and leave people wanting more. It might take a while to get it all together but you can.

I agree with Justyn.

Not that its total crap...it's just uninteresting.

What are you planning on using this video for? To promote yourself or just a video doodle or what you've been up to? Looking to get clients out of this or just share with us?

If it's just to share, no prob. If it's to attract clients, it needs to be really cleaned up. Lots of shaky footage, exposure isn't spot on, etc etc.

When you don't have alot of compelling footage, remember "less is more". Better to have less footage shown to highlight some good shots than a whole bunch of low par with some good.

That's good comments too typhoon. It takes a ton of footage to end up on a demo reel. I shot the other day for a client.. one of the shots is so cool it will make it, the other 2 hours won't. It's just how things are. it should be full of wows..

Really just showing you guys, I was testing quality and export settings for the most part...

No way I'm looking to get clients with THIS video, I have a few projects coming up then I will make a reel for clients...

When compared to other NLE's, I find Vegas boring - wish I had smooth cam and all the fun preloaded effects that other programs have.
