Any Sony F5/F55 users out there working with Sony Vegas

Hello. I am a long term Vegas user (have all versions but mainly use 9 as it is the most reliable - and version 12 just isn't even worth opening) and have just purchased a Sony F5 camera. Is anyone else using Vegas to edit the files, either in HD, 2K or 4K from these cameras? How are you managing, is Vegas working well for you?
Thanks, Sparky

Would love to but my experience of Vegas 12 is sooo negative...had a machine built esp for it too which is even more disappointing!

It took a while for 12 to get up to speed, but it's there now. In any case, even 10 (which I was reluctant to move from) and 11 will give you better performance for the footage you want to cut than 9 will.

'sfunny, but I've just nervously removed 9 from my PC to concentrate on 10. Still think 9 was more stable, but there are things it just can't deal with:smile:

I use Vegas Pro 12.0 with the F55 and 4k XAVC. I've used Vegas since before v.9.0. Pro 12.0 with the latest build (770) is the fastest and most stable. Since Vegas 9.0, it has moved from 32 bit to 64 bit, CUDA graphics co-processing and 4k, reading and writing XAVC. It is a perfect match for the F55.

For grading work, DaVinci Resolve is slightly better. Vegas Pro 12.0 is an improvement in other ways such as slightly more complete ACES support and full support for 4k 60fps. Resolve tops out at 30 fps.

Dear Tom, thanks for that and great to hear you're getting on well with Vegas 12. I have had my graphics card firmware upgraded, then deleted and reinstalled Vegas 12 and now it's running like a dream!

Would you mind please if I asked for some advice. I am currently editing XAVC footage shot on the F5 in Vegas all shot in SLOG2 - I just use the Vegas settings of: PIXEL FORMAT - 32 bit (video LEVELS) and no other special settings. I grade the SLOG2 footage with my own color curves and correction etc. Should I be using 32 bit FULL RANGE and then ACES RRT (sRGB) etc for example? What are you using out of interest? I don't quite know what options form the VIEW TRANSFORM options I should be selecting of what the differences are?

Thanks Tom.
