GH3 Any significant differences between IBP (interframe) and ALL-I (intraframe) MOV ?

Just got my GH3 yesterday and have been testing it since. Lots of nice improvements over the GH2, which I owned and hacked. Biggest noticeable difference to me aside from the respective physical handling differences and the audio interface is the general reduction in mosquito noise overall. The MOV files are much cleaner, even with the image settings set to "0" on the GH3. I've mostly been testing with Natural, Portrait, and Standard.

One question I have of fellow GH3 owners is whether or not people have been seeing any significant differences in mage quality between IBP (interframe / 50Mbps) and ALL-I (intraframe / 72Mbps) recording? To me eye they are indistinguishable. I haven't whip panned or purposely tried to stress the two formats, as I've mostly been testing with various real world situations.

My current workflow is to transcode to Prores anyway, so I'm leaning toward sticking with IBP in order to save some space on the card media. Can anyone think of any compelling reasons why this would not be a good idea?

My experience with GH3 All-I and high detail images has resulted in tremendous aliasing & moire. For my purposes unusable. IBP on the other hand is gorgeous.

If card space is an issue, remember you can always shoot in Avchd 24. It gives you twice as much recording time compared to IPB 50 at 24fps. For doing test and smaller projects I think it works great, something more serious like a paid job then use the IPB 24fps. ALL-I as of now introduces more noise, but in the future it might be the best when it gets hacked.
Peace

I would like to know why do you transcode your clips to ProRes, is there any benefit instead of editing the clip in the native format?

Thanks in advance for your reply.

can anyone check if IPB .mov files are palying fine (or not) on fcpx without transcoding ?
i dont want long times to transcode them in prores.
i have a lot of stuttering in fcpx with those files.

Yep! They'll cause plenty of frame drop alerts in FCPX before transcoding "Optimizing" to ProRes, but after, smooth sailing in all respects and not a single frame drop dialog.
