Hello,

Can anyone recommend a good backpack for the AF100 with room for 3 lenses and a shotgun mic from Rode NTG-2?

I own the cinebag cb 25 which is great for my hmc-150.

Would this be a good bag for the af100 or what do others think would work well?

thanks,

Simon

I love my cinebags, I fit my 7d, lenses and all my junk, just in the enclosed part... it'll definitely fit the AF100 and lenses

I say keep the bag, and you'll fit everything just fine

Hey Simon I just bought this bag for my hvx wish is similar size to your hmc if it isnt exactly the same lol. How do you fit your camera in it? Standing up on it's lens?

I belong to the carry-on camp and can recommend the Lowepro Pro Runner 450 AW backpack. It is made to the maximum spec allowed carry-on and fits a full frame body with a 300mm lens attached, another body, 4-5 lenses, up to 17-inch notebook, and accessories. Has loops for external tripod, tripod feet pouch, and rain cover. It easily swallows the AF100, several lenses, shotgun mic, portable recorder, and accessories necessary in the field. Priced around $210. There is a more urban version, the Pro Runner x450 AW, with wheels and trolley handle, but I seriously question these upgrades vs. a hardshell case. And the expedition style hydration-ready Pro Trekker 400 AW.

I do not know if you have much experience with backpacks... I am yet to see a carry-on backpack sturdy anough for abuse (i.e., throwing around and stacking). One must exercise care with backpacks. For maximum protection carry-on, use a hardshell case with padding or foam. There are lots of options on the market. Search the forum for elaborate AF100 storage discussions with photos. I like the Pelican 1510, a hardshell watertight case on wheels, which is also designed to the maximum allowed carry-on spec. Priced with padding around $160. Better than a backpack for in-town travel where you can roll or stacked transport. The Pelican is less useable in rural, wilderness, cross-country, and extreme portability situations where a decent backpack shines.

Hope this helps.
