Any P90X people here ?

Just about to start my 90 day cycle (Oct. 13). Done this once before and lost almost 20 of fat and gain about 9 pounds of muscle. We had a baby and well you dads/moms out there know what happens, food has never tasted so good.... :) Not mention I sit for almost 12 hours a day at my editing desk.

I'm now about 25 pounds over weight again and it's been two years since the last time I did my 2 months 1 week of P90x (had the flu and was forced to work 2 jobs). For those that don't know what I'm talking about, this is the real deal weight loss program (no I don't work for them)... No BS it's as hard as hell and will lose weight if you follow the program.

Ok I'm looking for some motivating story's, any additions to the lovely cardboard food tasting menu and really trying to put myself in gear...

Bring it
.

Yeah, my wife and I got slammed with house searching, followed by 2 weeks of sickness. So we have to start over. We'll begin the festivities Monday. I can't wait ... well ... I really can. I enjoy not being sore.

I'm still stuck on Level 3 of Regular P90...I'm sore. Anyone done both that can compare the Regular P90, and P90X?

Hmmm, this sounds intriguing. I'm pretty skeptical of specific plans. But I weighed myself recently and I'm open to new ideas....

I'm skeptical, too (thus me buying it on craigslist for cheaper ... didn't want to shell out a ton of money for something that wouldn't work), but so far this one has actually been working. Not just for us, but for friends of ours that have stuck with it.

It works! Now, to be completely transparent, I'm not the best spokesperson because I've been pretty inconsistent. However, I started the P90X Lean program (3 versions/plans come with the package: Lean, Regular, Doubles) about 2 months ago. I went for about 30 days straight and my wife and I both noticed a pretty big difference.

I'm not seriously overweight or anything but I wanted to get back in shape and drop 15 lbs or so. This will work if you stick with it. It's unbelievably tough but feels great when you can finally complete a full workout.

Dude it rocks. I'm finishing up week 11 tomorrow. I'm about 6' tall, and was hovering just under 200lbs on day 1. I'm down about 10 pounds, and have definitely toned up big time. I haven't measured my waist yet but I know I'm down a few sizes because none of my pants fit any more. I'm guessing even though I've only lost around 10 total pounds, I've probably lost 15 to 20 pounds of fat and put on 5 to 10 pounds of muscle.

I've tried so many other routines and never seen results. The great thing about p90x is that it's not much more than good old fashioned bust your butt hard work with dumbells and a pullup bar. No miracle machines that do all the work for you in a few 30 minute work outs each week. With P90X you work out hard, 6 days a week. There are a few workouts where I burn close to 1000 calories. No lie. You work out like that 6 days a week and it's impossible not to get results. Just put the dvd in and do what you're told. I'll definitely keep going after my first 90 days are over.

Yup know the feeling, hate getting sick. They say if you miss 1 day it's ok, but 2 or 3 it's best to start that week over. 2 weeks, not sure about that one. Let's keep this going with results, stories, etc..

Jim & Hawk,
Guys it truly works, but you need to be 100% convinced that you want to get tone, lose weight, etc.. I personally hate the diet, I come from a family of chefs and love great tasting foods. However if you don't follow the diet, it's probably not going to give the results you want. Alot of people do the supplement thing, but honestly it's the diet from what I read is the key. When they say bootcamp, they mean it. Hope to see you guys on the forum.

You know I said the same exact thing, but once I started to feel the natural energy, refreshing mornings, and non fat gut, I said to myself it was worth every penny.

Yes you can find it on the internet (ebay, amazon, craigslist, etc.) and will be much cheaper than buying it from Beach Body. You can find the menu, guides, etc.. on the internet for free. Most fitness clubs post them for the people that have lost them.

The trouble I'm having right now is a pull up bar. We moved from our old house into a newer home and the doors here are huge. Our doors are almost 10 feet and a little wider than our last house.

Anyone else have this problem ?

What are you guys using for a pull up bar ?

I'll be honest, in 11 weeks I've probably missed between 6 and 10 workouts. I almost repeated some of those weeks but decided to push ahead and stay with the calendar. That worked best for me. I think it's more about the habbit than completing each week perfectly. Otherwise you get stuck in a rut about not being able to finish anything. That's what I do anyway. Of course, this assumes you at least get most of your workouts in. I think I missed 2 workouts in a week one or two times, and 1 workout in a week all the other times.

On top of missing workouts, I also tend to loosen up on my eating on the weekends. Eating a few big meals as opposed to eating lots of small meals, eating pizza and other junk. All in all I would say I was about 80% on target overall (exercise/diet) for the program throughout my first 11 weeks, and I'm still blown away by the results. Now, when I did my workouts I gave it everything I had. I think that's what is most important.

My opinion is just push through it even if you miss some workouts. Now that I'm in the habit it's not a 90 day thing, but a normal routine.

I'm thinking of getting this soon too. I heard the pull up bar is great but I don't know if I will get one. What I have been reading about it is that you can substitute resistance bands for the pull up bar.

Yea I did the samething for a couple of days, still works just not getting 100% for that first 90 days challenge. Hardest video for me was Yoga, if I'm not moving I get bored to quick. There are alot of people now doing 2,3,4 and 5 cycles of P90x.

Where it's going to get me especially this time of the year is Thanksgiving & Christmas at my families house. It's going to be pretty hard to say no, but I guess I gotta figure something out....

Actually Sports Authority sells almost the same exact pull up bar at $40.

Exactly! As with any workout, if you make the FIRST move, you will do the rest. When I had a gym membership, as long as I put my workout clothes on, then I was already in motion to: get in the car, drive to gym, walk in, and workout.

With P90, putting the disc in your DVD player is the BIGGEST step!

And doing a workout at 75% is a lot better for you than giving 100% at sitting on your can.

What I have been reading about it is that you can substitute resistance bands for the pull up bar.

You can use resistence bands instead of the pullup bar but you still have to have something to attach the bands to, something overhead as opposed to standing on the bands like you do for most of the other (non-pullup) exercises.
