Any opinions on the Genus Superior Follow Focus?

I had a play with one briefly a while back and felt like it had too much play, but may be I didn't adjust it properly. I'm looking at one again, because it feels like nothing else is as versatile in its price range (reversible, flippable and quick release mounted) B&H link: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/702460-REG/Genus_GL_G_SFOCS_Superior_Follow_Focus_System.html

Wondering if anyone else had experience with one. If you have, could you please chime in? It would also help if you can let us know what other follow focus's you've used just so we'll know where you're coming from. For example, I've extensively used Shoot35 v1, Zacuto, Chrosziel, and had passing experience with Redrock V2, Proaim, and Cinevate.

I've used the Superior, and it's quite nice. It's not on the level of the Chrosziel, I don't think, but I think it's better than the Shoot35, and the RedRock v1 and v2. I think the latest Redrock (blue) and Cinevate Durus are about on the same level of the Superior.

And I think if you check eBay, you can find the Superior for around $500.

Thanks Stephen,

Yeah, the eBay special is kind of why I'm looking at it again. At this point, I'm considering the Cinevate Durus, Shoot35 V2 and the Genus Superior.

My Take:
Cinevate - Great Build Quality but fricking huge. Hard to use with small lenses.
Shoot35 v2 - Excellent quality/price ratio, best in range IMO, but not reversible and doesn't seem as tough.
Genus Sup - Most versatile of all the options. Play/backlash is questionable.

i have the Genus Bravo. it not as flexible as far as features compared to the Superior but i will say its very solid with no "play" to speak of. id imagine that the one your looking at is a step up so it can only get better. mine cost $500 and ive had no regrets whatsoever with the Genus quality.

The Genus has minimal backlash and is very well built, but I suspect it may be a little bulkier than competitive FF units. It's design allows it to be easily repositioned on rails for lens changes.

My new set of very compact lenses need a narrower follow focus.
Could you "Superior" users, use this FF with short lenses like Nikkor 50 1.4 or, worst, Leica-r?
Updates on backlash and other pros and cons?
