any one using the alphatron evf "how do you power it on your set up"

like i said, how are you powering your alphatron? i cant find any information on what options i have besides just saying it needs batteries.

I'm using the small Sony "L" batteries on-board the Alphatron, but the EVF comes with a D-Tap power cable if you prefer that option.

I used the biggest battery I could find which fit on the back at first. Then I got the exact size that would fit inside that shell (was hard, that size seems discontinued locally (oz).
ive removed the battery when traveling as the power button turns on in bags.

ill be going dtap from vlocks for bigger /longer setups

Sony NP-F750 is a good choice or D-tap when rigged all up.

I've only had a Zacuto EVF before but the Alphatron is much better at everything except the use of mini HDMI. I will run mine almost entirely with the SDI input so it's not of great concern. I haven't found a mini HDMI to mini HDMI to use with the 5Dmk3...

I have it mounted onto my AF100 right now and compared to the EVF of the AF100 the Alphatron is a vast improvement. It's so easy to pull focus and nail it and the image displayed is very representative to what comes out of the camera.

sorry everybody here seem to find ther is a lack of detail in the alphatron
i have over here 1 x zacuto and 1 x cineroid metal.
let's hope that they are going to fix it via firmware.
as for power i use a dumy plate that came with a Swit charger + a vmount plate that gives me 7.2 volt / 12 volt / 5 volt

I asked Alphatron the following question: What is the largest (highest capacity) Sony
battery that will fit in the EVF with the cover closed? If the answer is a
battery that has been discontinued, I would like to know that too. They answered: With the battery cap on, that would be the NP-F570.
That is still a current battery, made both by Sony and a lot of other battery manufacturers.

In case anyone was confused as I was, I also asked Alphatron what's the highest voltage you can send in through the 4-pin connector. They said 18 volts.
