Any microphones with built-in memory for recording?

[g3nov3s3]

I've searched the net and I've found the HHB Flashmic which has a Sennheiser microphone and a built-in flash recorder but it's way to expensive!
Any other choices?

The HHB handheld is the only one that comes to mind.

Just curious, what are you looking to use one for?

I think it could be good for indie movie production.
It might be simpler and faster than using a regular microphone and a portable recorder.

Problem: those are interview mics (read: require closer proximity than afforded on a boom). The HHB is a condenser, but is only available in omnidirectional (practically useless for on-cam dialog) and straight-up cardioid which won't get you favorable results in most situations.

Add to that the price tag. $1100 for the omni. To get the cardioid, you're looking at over $1400. For that, you could get the NTG-3 kit with Rode Blimp from DVCreators, plus a halfway-decent recorder (Zoom H4n or the like). Or the NTG-2 kit and an awesome recorder (Fostex FR2-LE or Tascam HD-P2).

The HHB FlashMic is the only one on the market.
