Any m2t sample footage in CF25? (Or any other CF25 low compression footage)

I REALLY need to know if the CF25 is as good as DVX100´s 24p - or even better. So, do you guys know any site where I can download a low compression CF25 footage? Macgregor, do you have a VERY LARGE archive of one of your works?

That´s why the main point of my thread is: show me the footage! What I want is to download low (or no) compression m2t or avi files shot with CF25 to watch on my tv.

Well since you are on a PC you can use the cineform software, so when you film in cineframe25 you can convert your footage to 25p, making your workflow smooth and the image smoother too.

Personally I would take the Z1U over a DVX any day, 24p isnt that important too me so sacrificing an almost unoticable frame for 4 times the image quality isnt a hard choice. HD gives you the crispness and sharpness SD can deliver. Dont get me wrong the DVX is a great camera but I could never go back to SD, its like editing on a 30" Apple LCD, then going back to a 15" Dell CRT.

for me 25 instead of 24p isn´t important too, as long as it holds the same quality and the same "film-like" motion. do you think CF25 can do it?

If you provide me with a big ftp, i can upload you good m2t at CF25.
But it looks decently.
Whenever i see now my old dvx100 footage i cannot believe how bad it looks now in my new big 24" LCD.

thanks macgregor! I´ll look for a ftp. If I don´t find, testimonials and things I´ve seen here are enough to make my choice.

At SD resolution, CF25 looks the same than a dvx100E videoclip. But it has much less noise, if not nothing.
Colors are kind of better with the dvx, but nothing that you cannot trick on post.

And I suppose it´s sharper too

So:
- Z1 beats DVX in terms of low noise and sharpness
- DVX beats Z1 in terms of colors

Right?

Z1 is much lower in noise, yes. In high-def mode the Z1 is much sharper than the DVX; in standard-def mode they're about the same.

DVX has much better low-light sensitivity and dynamic range, and many more image adjustment controls and gamma settings.

Z1 doesn't have any sort of progressive-scan, the DVX does.

If you really really want what the DVX does, but want it in high-def, the ultimate camera would be the HVX because that's essentially what it is: a high-def DVX. The Z1 is more like a high-def PD150.

Yes Barry, I agree with you, but Z1 is an interesting camera ´cause it doesn´t require the P2 workflow for HD, which is more expensive right now. Maybe in one or 2 years it´ll be much more affordable.

I consider the Z1 to have an overall superior quality over DVX, but not so much. HVX, in the other hand, is better than the Z1. What I want is the HVX, sure, but I can´t afford right now, so: should I buy a DVX100a or b and stay with it for a year and a half or should I go HDV with the Z1 instead? In Brazil, the difference between the Z1 and the DVX100A is higher than in USA, so this is not a simple choice.

If your gonna go from a Z1U/DVX to a HVX, I would get the DVX to get your used to the controls and the camera so the transition to the HVX eventually will be smooth.

Hi Macgregor,

You said that in SD, CF25 looks the same than a DVX. And with HD resolution, CF25 looks great?

Macgregor, next monday i will pick up my FX1E. I want to thank you for your advices, very nice footage. You give me many good reasons to choose the Sony Cam.

Thanks a lot!

If you are a good camara operator, you shouldnt have any difficulties in swichting cameras.

couldnt hurt to smooth the transition. He would just get a jump on HD with the Z1U. Personally I think the HVX is awesome has a ways to go. So I would buy a Z1U keep it at that.

macgregor should be sponsored by sony! this guy is selling lots of units with his works.

Yeah, but I think his work is his, people can buy an Fx1E or z1u but I think atleast 50% of the film look is the person behind the camera, not the DOF.
