Any interest in an alternative to P2 Genie?

Yep, the PC beta and Mac beta are being tested between just a few people at the moment.

I'm not sure when we'll do the final release, since I don't want to speak for the author, and it's kind of up to him. Things are moving along for sure, though, since he apparently went ahead with the Mac version!

I will certainly keep you all posted!

Can I please get a volunteer or two to help test that Mac version of Card Copier? It is not feature complete, and some things are not working very well and need to be tested by a P2 card user, since the author does not have access to P2 cards.

The 'successful applicant' will be asked to not share or speak about the software with anyone, and to communicate with the author directly via email to sort out the issues, bugs, etc.

Please PM me if you're interested! Thanks!

Since the HD Log demo does this for free, and works better than Genie, what's the point exactly? Imagine also has a Windows logger that does the same thing that they showed at NAB. Plus, the added feature of being able to actually review the clips, delete, and edit metadata makes a Genie like software passe.

Well they don't seem to be very clear on what their software does, but judging from the shot of the UI there are a few important differences. I am certainly interested in trying out a Windows version if they ever make one.

CardCopier
-is hands free, automatically detects cards
-verifies a good copy and data integrity
-erases a card after a good copy
-generates a master log file showing where everything went and when
-can use custom sounds for closed lid copying
-a DVD will be a selectable destination in future versions

Has the BETA version been tested with the new 16GB cards? How do the other functions compare to P2 Genie?

You can use windows as a "free p2 downloading program".
I just mount my p2 cards as a drive and copy the entire contents to my hard drive.
Its only OS-X that makes copying the contents of the P2 card difficult and tries to write its system files to the volume.
