Any idea when Canon is releasing a new dslr camera?

I currently have the t2i and while Im enjoying the images im getting from it I want to add a 5d to my arsenal to get the best low light and image quality that is out. With the way things have gone lately in this dslr realm if you react to fast and buy something on impulse something newer, better, and cheaper comes out of nowhere and leaves you regretting your purchase. Are there any cams in the works that will be on par with the 5d, sensor size and image quality wise, but have more framerate options? Id hate to spend $2,500+ only for something better to come along 4-6 months later.

I'll repeat a familiar refrain…

If you need a DSLR now, buy or rent the one that meets your needs best. Never try too hard to anticipate what any manufacturer might do, and when they might do it. And when it comes to rumors, remember that those who talk don't know, and those who know don't talk.

A good camera doesn't just become junk when a newer model is released. I doubt anything will come out in the near future that will blow the 5D out of the water, especially considering what it costs. If Canon based a full-on video or digital cinema camera on the 5D sensor, it'd cost at least double what the 5D costs, I'd imagine.

I have a dslr now. Im just looking to have an A cam and a B cam(with my B cam being the t2i). I can definitely wait until the next thing comes out I was just tryna to figure out what that was going to be. The thing that is baffling me is this AF-100. Will the image look the same as the GH1? I personally dont like the look of its video and feel it doesnt look as good compared to a 5d. Even tho its in a video camera form Id rather spend half the money and get better quality and have to deal with the little quirks of dslrs than spend 6000 or more dollars on something that has inferior image quality and cost half as much.

I definitely understand this. As opposed to the AF-100(which im still in the dark about) I would pay double the amount of a 5d if it produced the same iq and was in camera form. Maybe im just biased idk, what can I say I just love Canons look.

Panasonic's Pro division are not going to release a camera that has 'inferior quality' to the Canon DSLR's. This thing will be optimised for video, have a rock solid codec (anybody who doubts the possibilities of 24mbps AVCHD with a proper encoder is sorely mistaken and probably misled by the terrible encoder of the Canon's and their subsequently high bitrate), and will most likely include all the picture adjustments they have on their other Professional camcorders such as custom curves, knee, Dynamic Range stretch, etc. The GH1 hack has already proven that Panasonic's 4/3rds sensors/processing can deliver much sharper, cleaner video than the Canon's. Put that technology in a camera designed for video and with all the picture adjustments you could possibly want, and I think you'll start to realise just how bad the video from the DSLR's is at this stage.
