Any idea what this was filmed on? Incredible quality!

We are talking 1974 here. Nonetheless, I was struck by how well everything holds up to today's standards. Clarity, contrast, dynamic range, detail, even depth of field... it's all there! Okay, so maybe it's a little soft, but can you imagine how good the original footage would have looked? If only all vintage videos were kept this well...

Well, it wasn't "filmed" on anything. This is, as you acknowledge, vintage video. And it was shot on tube cameras. If I had to guess format, I'd say Quadruplex. Other than that, it's been decently preserved though there are several artifacts popping in and out. The reason you notice the clarity and detail is that it is monochrome, and there's a lot more room for detail in the video signal when it isn't crowded with color information. Same reason monochrome viewfinders are better for focusing video cameras.
