Any good way to squeeze more storage from HVX200

Hi Folks,
wow it's been a while since I've been on the board...

I've been using the HVX for a few years now, and I still love it. It still does most of what I want, but I have a couple of questions that have come to mind recently.

1) Is there a bitrate hack (as is popular on cameras like the GH2) but to LOWER the rate for the hvx, thus getting more storage out of the P2 cards?

2) How about using something like the Atomos Ninja. Anyone had any luck hooking that up? I tried a firestore years ago and just hated it. Nasty clunky piece of kit... yuk.

NOPE. i think the HVX is already about as compressed as it can acceptably be.

problem with many of the ninja style things is they generally record a less compressed format to crazy expensive SSD drives. so you get slight gains in quality for a pretty spendy dollar

I've always found that a shame. For some things, I'd happily settle for a way lower codec than DVCproHD.
