Any good programs/methods for converting DVDs to QT files?

Nothing copyrighted, just copies of a friends lacrosse game I need to edit down and hopefully keep at 100% quality.

Found a few programs online, but they are like 60 bucks or so. Curious if there's anything FCP can do or an easier way im not thinking of, to convert at 100%? thanks!
