Any good deals on the Mark II anywhere?

If you are in the USA you might look at the Canon customer loyalty program. Trade in a busted canon digital camera (look at an old broken d30 slr on eBay) and you can get a refurbished 5d2 for like $1700.

what about buying used on craigslist?

and if you do this... is there anything to look out for right off the bat? You don't want to hand over cash, then get home and realize you purchased a lemon.
 
Even on craigslist you probably aren't going to find one under $2000.

Or wait for the Mark III... which one would assume will bring down the Mark II.

Of course, the III might be so bad-ass as to make you forget the 2....

I've bought two cameras from the loyalty program in the past 3 months.
one 7D and one 5D.
As long as you call in and register the serial number on the broken camera u're sending in then you have nothing to worry about. Camera ships out 2day FexEx for free. You have up to 10 days to ship in the broken trade also free shipping.

As of yesterday they had about a dozen 5D's left and TONS of 7D in stock.
 
I was totally going to go through the loyalty program till the lady told me on the phone that the 5DM2 is refurbished and I would only have a 90 day limited warranty. I found a powershot on CL for only $150 and the 5D2 body was like $1679 I believe.
