Any feedback on the Adaptimax Nikon to F3 adapter?

We work with both but must say that the aperture ring from MTF is better than the 'bolt/screw' on the adaptimax.
The adaptimax makes it possible to damage the aperture lever in the lenses.

I knew the G mount version would handle more lenses, but I really don't think I'm going to be buying more nikon lenses as I already have a 7 lens prime set and a three zooms. If I upgrade in the future it might be to PL lenses, but there are other priorities.

I had heard there were issues with the threads rubbing on the G mount version of the Adaptimax aperture control. I also heard the MTF aperture control was sometimes hard to reach. It was another reason for me to want the F mount type.

Other than the aperture control, how is the fit and finish of the Adaptimax adapter? Any other issues.

I've been using the MTF adapter a lot. No issues with reach. I wouldn't consider my hands or fingers small either. Had no issues with grip or turning either, as reported. The ring that you turn to control the iris is nicely damped. There is a fragile locking thumbscrew that is near useless. I simply removed it on day one and have had no regrets. The damped control ring keeps the iris in place. No need to lock it down.

I would recommend the MTF adapter.

The MTF is very solid, but you have to be careful after using the Tokina 11-16, you don't forget to fully open the MTF iris and lock it before changing to manual iris Nikons.

I found a demo MTF adapter for less than the adaptimax, so I bought that. The best of both worlds.:cheesy:

The Adaptimax Canon EF, Nikon Original and Nikon Plus to F3 is now shipping and selling like hot cakes as expected. We manufacture the best adapters on the market and that's the reason more often than not our products have a bit of a waiting list.

We don't have a need to advertise to any degree simply because we are working to capacity all the time. Our adapters sell through word of mouth recommendations. We don't blow half our income on advertising and then produce a $50 adapter which costs the customer $400 simply because of advertising expenditure.

Our thumbscrew design is better than the ring design. It is far more accurate, easier to use and to say it damages lenses is nonsense. If you use brute force on any object you would cause damage so a little savvy is all that is required. When you feel the screw hit the end you stop (you will see the iris fully opened before feeling it on the screw)

In the USA B&H sell our adapters. They have sold litterally hundreds and will hopefully sell hundreds more. Read the customer reviews on their website.

Currently there is a 14 day lead time on the Canon EF to F3 due to the extreme high demand. We can't make them fast enough! For the Nikon versions, they are in stock and ready to ship out.

I have to commend Adaptimax on their customer service too. They stand by their craftsmanship, and are quick to answer an email query, even though I'm sure they're pretty busy with orders. Peace of mind is worth a few more dollars, I think.

"The 5.4x magnification factor of the Adaptimax Plus makes it perfect for telephoto or macro videography, enabling impressive results that extend beyond the capabilities of the stock Sony PMW-F3 lens..."

... beyond the capabilities of the stock PMW-F3 lens? What is that? A typo?

You can read this statement under Overview for the Adaptimax Plus Nikon Lens Adapter for Sony PMW-F3...
Its also stated under the Product Highlights.

I'm sure someone accidentally looked at an EX3 adapter advertisement. There the crop factor is 5.4. For the F3 the crop factor is 1.5.

Thanks for pointing that out. It's a typo and I have contacted them to change it. The magnification factor is 1.5 on a Nikon Plus to PMW-F3.

Is the canon EF to F3 adaptor with aperture control?
if not how do you expect to shoot? wide open all the time?

Just a heads up to let you all know the Adaptimax Nikon Plus to PMW-F3 is now in stock for next day shipping. It has the shortened thumbscrew so that the camera can be placed on a flat surface with no problems. The Adaptimax Plus allows all Nikon and third party Nikon lenses with OR WITHOUT an aperture ring to work on the PMW-F3.

The demand for the Adaptimax Canon EF to PMW- F3 continues to be huge and we are still working on a 14 day waiting list from placing the order. So if you want one get your order in ASAP.

Best regards
Steve
