any feedback on Promax?

I'm in the market to buy a DVX100a and have been searching the internet trying to find the right place to buy. I was going to order from WILLOUGHBYS but after calling them this morning i'm leaning away from them. They seemed shady even know they are a panny dealer. After reading the post on here about the lowest prices from dealers i decided to call up ProMax. I only talked to them breify to check and see about price, shipping and if they had it in stock. They have the camera priced at 3359 and the sales guy said shipping would be around 30 bucks. I got a better feel from Promax, then any other place i called. I havent heard much about ProMax but everything i have heard has been good. They dont have many reviews on resellerrating.com but everyone is really good.

does anyone have any feedback on ProMax? I think i remeber reading somewhere that Barry Green knew the owner. I'm hoping to order my camera by the end of the week. Thanks for any info anyone might have.

Re: any feedback on Promax?

give them a go!  they are 110% legit w/ no pressure sales.  you also get great customer service after the sale.

for example, when the sony pd150's first came out w/ the infamous audio hiss,  sony offered an upgrade fix for a fee.  not promax.  anyone who purchased from them got the upgrade for free.  go w/ promax.  you won't be sorry. there's also rush at evs!

Re: any feedback on Promax?

I just bought my DVX100a from ProMax last week, I buy many things from them. They are one of the best dealers in my opinion. Ask for Dan Hatch, he'll take care of you.

Re: any feedback on Promax?

thanks for the feedback. I think i will order from them. donbarzini did you get the magic bullet with your camera? ALso if you had it shipped to you, was the shipping charges fair?

Re: any feedback on Promax?

oh donbarzini if i ask for Dan Hatch, would you like for me to tell him you sent me?

Re: any feedback on Promax?

I bought my DVX100(not A) from them the last week they sold the item before the 'A' came out. I faxed my credit card info on a Monday night, received the item on Wednesday morning...without overnight shipping. One of the best companies I've ever dealt with, by far.

Hey Boo, I know what you're saying but I'd like to spell it out even clearer.  What happened was, Sony had a hiss problem and denied it and denied it.  Then when they finally admitted there was a problem, they said owners could send their cameras in and pay like a $150 fee to get it fixed.

Charles at ProMax said "forget that.  I'll pay the fee for anyone who bought a camera through ProMax".  So he came out of pocket $150 for each and every PD150 he'd sold, just so the owners would have a properly-functioning camera.  Sony wanted to milk their customers, but Charles took the hit instead.

That's the kind of service you get from ProMax.  First-class all the way.

Re: any feedback on Promax?

watson, yes, the shipping charges were fair. I paid about 40.00 but that was for 2 day express from CA to WI.

Re: any feedback on Promax?

watson, also, magic bullet did come with the DVX100a, it was in the box with the "congratulations" sticker on the box.

Re: any feedback on Promax?

watson,

promax actually weighs it's products before charging for shipping. when you place your order, you get guestimates(is that a word?) of what the actual shipping charge may be and then the shipping price will be based on the actual weight, not some ridiculous standard shipping fee like some of them brooklyn stores profit from...

Re: any feedback on Promax?

Hands down the best in the business as far as I'm concerned. The absolute best customer support I've ever seen... often times better than the manufacturer.

Worth paying the extra dough..... even better if you are local and actually just go pick stuff up rather than having to wait for UPS or FedEx.

Re: any feedback on Promax?

I just attempted to order the DVX100A from EVS today and they are out of stock until the end of the week. I need one by Saturday so I might check out Promax.

What about the fact that they are not an authorized Panasonic dealer? Should I be concerned about that? (such as if it breaks and needs to be sent back to Panasonic?)

Thanks!

Re: any feedback on Promax?

Alright, never mind, I just did some investigating and saw that Promax states they are authorized to sell Panasonic (http://www.promax.com/milestones.html see 1998) and then went to the Panasonic site and typed in the 92618 zip code and it listed ProMax as an authorized dealer.

Not a bad deal for $3359 if the shipping is reasonable (like you said it is).

Re: any feedback on Promax?

Hey, i finally did it and decided to order a DVX100a from promax, i called up last week and talked to Jason, the sales guy. Very very friendly and didnt try to push any extra stuff. They were actually out of the camera but said they should have more next week. Since i'm not in to much of a rush for the camera i put my order through and am waiting for them to ship the camera, Hopefully today or tomorrow. I asked about shipping and Jason told me 2 day shipping from cali to PA would be about 30 bucks. Thats pretty damn fair if you ask me.(unlike a few other places where d day in like 60 to 100) Now i just gotta sit back and wait for the camera. I was really happy with the vibes i got from them.

Holy crap! ProMax is located in Irvine. I had no idea -- I'm definitely going to drop by today. And to think, all this time, I'd been going to Samy's ... ::)

Edit: No wonder I missed them, their sign is too tiny:
