I'm shooting a music video and If I can't get dvx or xl2 from somewhere my next option is dv 500 any footage or has anyone used one in the past any info is helpul.
go for the dv500. I have (as many people here) a lot of footage lying round of a dv500. 1/2 inch beats 1/3 inch any day.... too bad it isn't 16/9, but I don't know what aspect you need...
It's all compressed to QuickTime files for web streaming, but here are some links to some of the DV500 footage I've shot:
(Camera package used was a JVC DV500U, with a Fujinon S20x6.4 lens)
Cut4 Media Group web site. On the Demos page you'll find some QuickTime files. Most of the shots in the Central Coast Emmy piece were shot with the DV500. Link: www.cut4.tv
Mammoth HD stock footage. I have about fourteen SD and HDV stock footage collections marketed by Mammoth HD. All of the SD collections were shot with a DV500U, using the Fujinon S20x6.4 lens. The HDV collections were shot with a Z1, using a Sony wide conversion lens. Links:
The DV500 isn't a bad camera at all. Although it is 6 year old (at least) technology. I prefer the image quality of the XL-2 with it's 20x lens to the DV500 with a Fujinon lens though (the cheap one.) If you can get a DV500 with a better lens then you're better off.
